Don’t miss the SWAT Season 4 premiere live on CBS tonight

It’s the episode we’ve waited all summer for. The SWAT Season 4 premiere airs tonight, and we get one that brings up the LA riots from 1992.

However, the episode is going to be more than that. When it was originally written, the world was only just about to go into lockdown. In fact, lockdown wasn’t even a consideration. The virus was only just starting up.

More from SWAT News

Rather than skip the episode completely, it was reworked to fit in with the current situation. Black Lives Matter is definitely making an appearance in the SWAT Season 4 premiere. The protests are part of it, along with the mention of George Floyd.

This shouldn’t be surprising. SWAT started as a show that brought up systemic racism. It’s fallen away from that over the seasons, but it’s getting back to those roots. Hondo will need to decide where he fits in. Will he fight for justice from within the police department?

What else is happening in the SWAT Season 4 premiere?

Hondo thinks back to the 1992 riots. In the promo, he also mentions another protest. The city is overdue one, and he knows they all need to be ready for it.

There’s one thing that is going to make things harder: the pandemic. Oh yes, it’s part of the show. That makes sense since a police reform story isn’t only being included but it’s focused on George Floyd. The show is making this current, and the pandemic is part of that.

Everything changes for SWAT. The team isn’t just dealing with everyday situations but a world that has turned upside down. Everyone is at the risk of breaking.
