911: Nashville is just around the corner, and we’re getting a few details about what to expect. Among the details include a tease that this series is going to be soapier than the other 911 shows.
Now, there’s no doubt that the 911 franchise is one of the craziest of the shows. It brings in plenty of intense and crazy emergencies, while also having the odd wild family drama. What it hasn’t done is go the route of the soaps to bring in family drama into the firehouse.

911: Nashville is going to be soapier
Showrunner Rashad Raisani shared with TV Insider that his new spinoff is going to be a little soapier than the other shows. In other words, there’s going to be plenty of family drama. He even likened it to Succession and Dynasty, with the latter definitely being a soap rather than a drama.
This would hint that there is going to be some big family reveal, and Raisani has said that there is a explosive revelation to kickstart the series. This is sure to be something linked to the family, as that’s what the series is at the heart of it. It focuses on Don Hart, the Captain of the 113, and his wife Blythe and son Ryan.
Then there is a woman from his past thrown into the mix, Dixie. She is the one who is sure to stir up drama in the soapy way.

Are Ryan and Blue half-brothers in the 911 spinoff?
The most obvious way to bring an explosive revelation and make it soapy is to write in that Don has another son. With Blue being Dixie’s son and Don having a history with Dixie, this is easily plausible. We could find out that Blue is the half-brother of Ryan.
Now, whether Don knows about Blue or not is another thing. Dixie may have kept it a secret, and she’s the one who reveals the truth. Maybe Blue has been told that Don is his father, and he’s the one who shares it all at the firehouse.
Either way, the secret will create tension and drama. Dixie is sure to hope that it means she replaces Blythe, while Blue will probably want everything that Ryan has. There’s drama both at home and at work for Don and Ryan, and Blythe has to live with it all. As she’s so well-known, people are sure to ask her about the drama because they’ll pay attention.
While this seems a little obvious, we know that the 911 franchise loves to go for crazy and wild. Why not bring it in with soapy drama? 911: Lone Star tried to do it with the revelation that Wyatt was Judd’s son, but that didn’t quite cause the arguments that it could have as Grace understood that Wyatt was from a relationship before her. Now 911: Nashville has a chance to do what Lone Star couldn’t.
911: Nashville will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 9/8c on ABC.
