Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2 is still a possibility (but probably not on NBC)

There is still some hope for Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2.

As we inch closer to the Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1 finale, all eyes are on the future of the series. All other shows on NBC have had their fates decided, but this freshman dramedy remains on the bubble. What are the chances of it being renewed?

Well, it looks like NBC isn’t going to renew it. The ratings haven’t been strong enough, and the schedule for the year is packed due to NBC giving Tuesdays over to NBA coverage throughout the year. That cuts out three hours of programming for scripted and unscripted content.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 2 could move to Peacock

There could be a new home for the series, though. The fact that NBC hasn’t outright canceled the series just yet gives us some hope. Otherwise, a decision would have been made ahead of the release of the schedule. It looks like there are negotiations happening to move the series onto Peacock — and we’re wondering why that isn’t happening with Found as well.

The Wrap shares that negotiations are ongoing, but nothing has been decided just yet. This is a bubble drama, failing to launch on Sundays after Suits: LA. However, when it moved to Fridays, the linear ratings didn’t take a complete dive, suggesting that people are loyal enough to follow it to Peacock as well.

NBC and Peacock have done this before

It’s worth noting that this wouldn’t be the first time an NBC show has moved to Peacock. Last year, the same happened with Law & Order: Organized Crime, and while it was somewhat annoying for those who were used to watching it on Thursday nights after Law & Order: SVU, it seems to have had a positive impact on the nature of the series.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society is one of those bingeable shows, and it could perform extremely well on a streaming platform. In fact, it suits Peacock’s tone, as it feels similar to One of Us Is Lying and Poker Face with the mixture of comedy and drama and the slightly different type of crime drama feel.

We are a little more optimistic about the future of the series after Friday’s cancellations. At least we know who Quiche is in Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1, so it leaves us with questions about how the finale could end with the mystery solved. Will the four not-quite-murderers get away with it?

Grosse Pointe Garden Society airs on Friday at 8/7c on NBC.
