We knew that Morgan wouldn’t rest until she caught the Game Maker in High Potential season 2. The problem is that he’s constantly one step ahead.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for High Potential season 2, episode 1.
The episode opens with a woman dancing her way to her car after leaving the club. She doesn’t make it to her car, and throughout the episode, we have a lot of questions about what happened to this woman, Maya.
It’s soon clear that the Game Maker has some huge plan. After all, he’s involved in an abduction of a woman who looks a lot like Morgan, making it clear that he has an intended target.

Morgan focuses on the Game Maker in the High Potential season 2 premiere
We quickly learn that Morgan hasn’t told her children at all about the Game Maker, and that makes a lot of sense. After all, why would she want to worry them? On top of that, she hasn’t shared anything about Roman, who Selena tells Morgan is somewhere in Nevada.
The episode itself is focused on the abduction of Maya, who Morgan is able to confidently say went missing from the parking lot, and that there was a struggle. There are plenty of red herrings along the way, including her ex Derek and a man named Jason.

It’s Jason who comes across as the man who took Maya, but Morgan isn’t too certain. We have seen her wrong before, but this time, she knows that the Game Maker is up to something. He’s in places that he shouldn’t be, but we can see how her obsession over this man is already causing tension with Karadec and others.
In the end, it’s how Derek showed up at the precinct when Jason is arrested that tips everyone off that the Game Maker is definitely playing a game. Why would Derek have known that Jason was arrested? The Game Maker told him, and it hints that the Game Maker has some sort of leverage over this man.
The High Potential season 2 premiere ends with the Game Maker turning up at the precinct to see Morgan and Selena, saying he’d heard that they’ve been looking for him. It’s not like they can prove he has done anything illegal just yet, and he knows it, so it’s safe for him to walk into the precinct. This man is definitely multiple steps ahead of everyone else, including Morgan, and it’s fun to see her on the back foot.

Oz and Daphne may have found Roman
Throughout the first season of High Potential, there were questions about Roman. This mystery man has been missing for 15 years, and the end of the first season saw Karadec get a location. As Selena says, he’s somewhere in Nevada.
Well, Oz and Daphne head to the last known address for Roman, which is where Mekhi Phifer’s mysterious character is. There have been a lot of questions about whether he is Roman or not, but I’m on the fence at this point. It’s too easy, right? Have we really just solved the mystery of Roman?
Of course, if we have found him, there are a lot of other questions, such as why he’s been gone for 15 years. However, for a man who has been missing for 15 years, it was a little too easy to find him now. This tells me that Phifer’s character isn’t Roman, but he may know where the man is, or he’s been posing as Roman for the longest time.
I guess we’ll need to wait for the rest of the season to see how this mystery unfolds. Color me excited.
