At long last, we’re getting another One Chicago crossover event that promises to be one of the biggest yet! It's happening in 2026, and we have all the details.
It used to be a regular event that the One Chicago shows would have some crossover events. However, they took a break in 2020 ,when the COVID-19 pandemic cut down on handling the logistics of these events.
The crossover event returned in 2025, and now, NBC announced via Deadline that once more, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD will have a major crossover.
When will the 2026 One Chicago crossover event air?
NBC has set the date of the event as Wednesday, March 4. This is set to be the second week back after the Winter Olympics break.
As in previous years, the storyline will adjust the schedule with Chicago Fire at the earlier time of 8/7c, followed by Chicago Med, then Chicago PD. It's the best way to suit the storyline for the initial emergency.

What is the new One Chicago crossover about?
Per the official logline, the crossover follows the formula of a regular rescue leading to a larger emergency.
“Firehouse 51 is called to an airfield when a passenger jet suddenly goes silent mid-air, triggering a high-stakes emergency. Their discovery cracks open a bigger and deadlier mystery — one with consequences that could ripple far beyond the runway and put countless lives in jeopardy.”
That leaves a lot up in the air in terms of what could happen. The last crossover event, called “In the Trenches,” had an explosion bringing the teams together on a complicated case involving bombings and ill cops. One has to wonder how they can top it this year.

The great legacy of One Chicago crossovers
The best part of the One Chicago universe is how organic the crossover feels. It’s not at all uncommon to see some of the cops from PD on Fire, both teams visiting Med, and relationships across the trio of shows. While such guest appearances are good, a big crossover is always better.
They’ve moved from just between two shows to all three with past events tackling a high-rise fire and a deadly disease threatening Chicago (which eerily aired before the pandemic). The thrill is seeing all the crews working together and characters you usually wouldn’t see interacting joining forces to rescue civilians and unravel crimes.
Like past events, it’s likely that each installment spotlights that particular show. So Fire has the initial emergency, Med features the treatment of victims, and PD wraps it up with whatever crime caused all this. It’s a simple formula that works well for the franchise.
The One Chicago crossover premieres on Wednesday, March 4, beginning with Chicago Fire at 8/7c on NBC.
