September 2024 is just around the corner, and you know what that means. The broadcast shows will start to return, and that means plenty of crime dramas to check out.

Whether you want something new or you’re ready for your favorites to return, there is something for everyone to watch. Not everything is returning, though. The CBS dramas are being held for October, but there are still some exciting additions.

It’s not just about the broadcast networks, either. There are some crime dramas heading to premium cable networks and streamers to look out for. Here are the top five crime dramas we’re excited to see in September 2024, though.

5 must-watch crime dramas to watch in September 2024

This list is in release date order, as it’s the best way to manage it all. After all, how can we rank dramas when we don’t know how all of them will turn out? We’re just excited to see new premiering and old returning.

Moonflower Murders

The first of the shows we can’t wait to see will premiere on PBS on Sunday, Sept. 15. This is a series adapted from an Anthony Horowitz book of the same name. It follows Susan Ryeland, who runs a struggling Crete hotel.

It turns out that she has a former client called Alan Conway, a mystery author who used a cold case from years earlier for a novel. Now she is tasked with figuring out the real case that the novel was based on.

High Potential

ABC has a new crime drama arriving, and it is one of the first big broadcast premieres across all genres. High Potential will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and it follows a woman who may be a cleaner but proves to be crucial in the solving of crimes.

Morgan is able to put the evidence in the right order to help with the solving of the crime. The police unit realizes that Morgan has this knack to solve crimes and decide to bring her on as a consultant for future cases.

MATLOCK
MATLOCK stars Kathy Bates as the brilliant septuagenarian Madeline “Matty” Matlock, who, after achieving success in her younger years, decides to rejoin the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within. Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice, while Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm, is

Matlock

CBS will bring one premiere in September, but it is a special premiere on Sunday, Sept. 22. The rest of the season won’t arrive until October. It’s all about Matlock, the Kathy Bates series that was originally going to be part of the 2023–2024 TV season.

This is a reboot of sorts. It’s clear that the Matlock we’ve come to know and love is a TV series within this show. It follows an older woman who proves that you shouldn’t underestimate her. However, when you do, she will take full advantage.

Chicago PD

There is one show returning that we can’t wait to see. It’s all about Chicago PD, which returns for its 12th season on Wednesday, Sept. 25. This season will pick up off the back of another team exit. Upton left for new pastures, and now the team will need to get used to a new member joining and changing that dynamic.

There are plenty of questions about the changes within the team. One thing fans want to see is one of the officers being promoted to detective. Isn’t it time for Atwater to get a promotion?
