The fight is on to save some of the TV crime dramas canceled in May 2025. However, some of the shows not returning in the fall weren’t canceled. They have just been delayed, and it’s important to note the difference.
There are certainly some shows that we’re ready to watch again right now, but we have to wait. The wait until September doesn’t feel that long when you know you have to wait until January for some of the shows. At the same time, we fight to get others back on our screens, and if that happens, they’re still not going to arrive in time for the fall.
We take a look back at the biggest disappointments of the May 2025 cancellation and renewal decisions. Which TV crime dramas will we definitely not see return?

Found
After two seasons, NBC shockingly decided to cancel Found. It was a disappointing choice, especially considering the way the series ended. While Jamie was saved, Gabi faced a prison sentence and it looks like someone has tried to kill Sir. Now we need to know how M&A will deal with the loss of Gabi, as she faces trial.
This series is one of the most important shows on TV right now. The fight is on to save it, but it doesn’t mean that it’s possible. This should have gone to Peacock rather than being outright canceled.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society
While Grosse Pointe Garden Society hasn’t been canceled yet, things aren’t looking that good for it. NBC has allowed the season finale to air without word, but there are rumors that it will move to Peacock for the second season. It deserves this move, as well, as the show is just a lot of fun.
Even if Peacock saves the series, the chances of it arriving in fall 2025 are extremely slim. Peacock will have already set up the 2025 schedule, and there won’t be enough time to write and film all the episodes to release them. I’d take a guess that this would become a binge-watch on Peacock.

The Rookie
Don’t worry; this ABC series has not been canceled! That’s great news with the way things ended with the seventh season. Monica is a free woman, while Oscar remains on the run. The LAPD will have their work cut out for them to take them both down, and now we need to wait to find out how that happens.
The Rookie season 8 will be held for the midseason, and this is a good thing for the series. It allows the episodes to run back-to-back without a break, although we will likely see the odd one-week break here and there due to politics or sports. Consistency is important for TV shows, and ABC is helping The Rookie soar.

Will Trent
Likewise, Will Trent season 4 is happening, but it’s being held for the midseason. This makes a lot of sense when you consider the way the third season’s audience grew from the second season’s. It’s clear that people love the consistent schedule.
However, we want to know how things are going to end. The last we saw, Olmestead and Amanda’s lives were both on the line, and it’s not clear if we’ll lose one or both of them. On top of that, Angie is pregnant, and now Will needs to take a complete step back as he realizes he has lost her for what seems like good.

FBI: International
Despite a finale that left us with major questions, we’re not going to see FBI: International return in fall 2025. This is another canceled show, and annoyingly, the writers had some time to craft closure and refused to do it. Instead, we’re now wondering who got the promotion and how things would go for Wes with his sister.
This series was a victim of cost. Production costs have gone up considerably, and the series wasn’t getting the linear ratings to justify keeping it on the air. FBI: Most Wanted also won’t come back for another season. The shows weren’t shopped around, so there’s no chance of them getting renewed.

Accused
FOX has a bunch of TV crime dramas, and it looks like none of them are coming back for fall 2025. One of those is Accused, which still hasn’t been renewed for a third season. However, it also hasn’t been canceled. This is one of those shows that could stay off the air for a couple of years and then come back due to the anthology set up.
While it is worth pointing out that the linear ratings were down from the first season, that isn’t necessarily the reason it hasn’t been renewed yet. It looks like there aren’t any pitched stories for a third season, so we’ll just have to wait. Even if it was suddenly renewed, though, it won’t come back in the fall as the FOX schedule is already set up.
